How to Be a Tsinelas’ Volunteer01/06/2010
how to join tsinelas “Each small step can make a big difference.” This is the line which Tsinelas Association Inc. lives by. You want live by this line too, so you want to be a member of Tsinelas. But how?

According to Lorenzo Ninal, known to friends as “Insoy,” executive director of Tsinelas, all you need to do is present yourself to the president of the Tsinelas chapter in your campus and tell him/her you want to be part of the organization. The president will be the one orient you.

Is it that easy then? Joining the group is, but living the life of a volunteer may not be as easy as ABC.

Wikipedia defined volunteering as “the practice of people working on behalf of others without being motivated by financial or material gain. Volunteering is generally considered as an altruistic activity, intended to promote good or improve human quality of life. People also volunteer to gain skills without requiring an employer's financial investment.”

Simply put, you work not for yourself but for others, without pay or any tangible gain.
There are a few intangible things you can gain, though. Wikipedia says there are three major benefits one can get from volunteering:

1. Economic benefits: activities undertaken by volunteers would have been otherwise funded by the state or by private capital. So, volunteering adds to the overall economic output of a country and reduces the burden on government spending.

2. Social Benefits: volunteering helps to build more cohesive communities, fostering greater trust between citizens and developing norms of solidarity and reciprocity that are essential to stable communities.

3. Individual Career Benefits: graduates can meet people and gain work experience through volunteering. It also helps students get scholarships, since sponsors are sure to be impressed when a student's resume includes volunteer work.

See how a small step can make a big difference? Who would ever think that while you are helping the nation as a whole, you are also gaining personal advantages?
And there are still more. Have we already mentioned the sense of fulfillment that we always long for? Volunteer now!
